“Another facial analysis program known as Face2Gene, launched recently by New York-based FDNA Accessible Genetics, is a genetic search and reference mobile application that has capabilities similar to the approach developed by the Oxford researchers. It can be downloaded for free to Apple devices. Face2Gene results from several years of research, development, and validation by geneticists. Based on processing tens of thousands of facial images, the application creates and uses facial meshes to identify particular facial phenotypes through learning algorithms and a crowd-sourcing method. ”

The article from the Wiley Online Library describes how FDNA’s Face2Gene app utilizes advanced facial analysis technology to support clinicians in identifying genetic conditions.  Face2Gene applies machine learning to thousands of facial images, building a reference of facial phenotypes that helps clinicians narrow down diagnoses. Through crowdsourced case uploads, the app improves its accuracy continuously, linking users to genetic databases and a network of professionals for collaborative insights. Experts praise Face2Gene as a valuable tool that aids in clinical judgment, increasing diagnostic confidence, and refining genetic assessments.
